TRAIL UPDATE 1/28/2021

SOOOO close yet so far!!! Currently Leyden is OPEN... BUT, both Bernardston and Gill need more snow. The club's facebook page has more details and updates. The snow cover is light, so be well aware. To say to USE CAUTION is an understatement.

Also, are you looking for some good looking BGL club clothing to wear? Well, you are in luck. As a fundraiser, which is desperately needed due to the fact that we had to cancel both our swap meet and golf tourney this year, we are now taking ONLINE orders for BGL Snowmobile club gear. Hats, sweatshirts and tee-shirts. Follow the link below...

When picking out your items, select the size you want after you click on the add to cart button.
We are taking orders until March 1st and will take a couple weeks to get them in. Once we receive them, we will notify you by email to schedule pick up. Be sure to add your email address while on the order page. If you have any questions contact Dan at 413-522-48two-3 THANKS!

TRAIL UPDATE 12/19/2020

In Bernardston from west road over by the crumpin fox golf course thru purple meadow (ROUTE 10) is closed due to logging by the golf course. Use the satan kingdoms trail (Route 2) for access from Bernardston to Gill until further notice..
ALSO there were some" lost people" that drove off marked trails in Leyden across hay fields and private landowner trails... AGAIN... STAY ON MARKED TRAILS so we can KEEP THEM OPEN!!!

TRAIL UPDATE 12/18/2020

First thing tomorrow (12/19) groups in all 3 towns will be headed out to get trails broke open and contact landowners to get gates and fences opened up. Most trails BEFORE the storm had been cleared and were ready but between the snow and wind there will be more cleanup to do of downed trees, limbs and such. Hopefully no damage to any bridges.
So for those that wish to help the town delegates and groomers get our trails cleaned up and open for everyone, here some things to keep in mind....we are asking those that you must know EXACTLY where they are going or get someone that does if your the first ones thru....
RIDE WITH CAUTION!!! This Fluffy snow doesn't give much protection from rocks/wet areas and who knows what....
Bring a saw if your comfortable with it...
Beware as not all areas are frozen over yet and bridges could have false snow cover.
Be prepared even more than usual and RIDE WITH CAUTION!!!
If you come to a gate or fence that is shut... PLEASE do not open it! After the landowners have been contacted to make sure they are ready we will get them open.
By town here are the details we know as of tonight....
Ready to go, currently no restrictions
Most trails ready to go BUT
NO PARKING or trail access from Kringle candle
Perrys pasture gate is closed so NO access FROM the center of town or down to it for gas yet
Most Trails ready to go
Multiple fences in gates throughout the main corridor trails still closed
If you chose to go out and run into issues that need more work than your comfortable or prepared to do.
Contact our President Jared Smith at 413-374-1665
or make a note here for us and others...
We will update trails as they OPEN and hopefully nothing will happen so they will have to be closed both here and on the website
With any luck this will go smoothly and set us up for a winter full of quality riding right here in our backyard!
Be safe and "Keep the Rubber side Down"

Trail Closure Update 3/14/2020

Good Morning Everyone, Unfortunately it’s time to close our trails for the season. With the rain and warm temps the snow is melting fast. We had a better run this year than we have had in the past few, we have received comments about trail conditions and grooming , people have shared pictures, please keep it coming, we love to hear from you.

I would like to say thank you to all of our land owners, everyone that spent the time getting the trails ready, the signs made and put up, grooming, storm damage help, and the club members that come to the meetings to help! Only a few issues this year with people going places they shouldn’t have, or speed violations, but all in all it was a good year.

Everyone plays a role! Without landowners and volunteers we wouldn’t have trails. Everyone likes to go out and ride but there are countless hours of prep and work that start every summer, weather its talking to landowners, clearing trails, or maintaining our fleet of club vehicles and drags there is no shortage of work to do.

I would like to invite you to come to a meeting, get more involved with the club, attend one of our fund raisers, or join in on a work bee, we love to meet new people and work as a team to get things done. If you have any new ideas, or ways to improve our club or trails please feel free to let us know! Our meetings are the last Monday night of each month (excluding summer). Regular meeting reminders are posted on our Facebook page.

Things to look forward to next year are some new, wider bridges that will allow for the wide groomers to hit more trails, new trail status signs located at parking areas indicating open or closed, and the new Sled Ma trail map app, let me tell you, this new map app has done well in the trial/tests we have been doing, it will allow for turn by turn navigation just like in your car, real-time updates on closures, and grooming. The new map shows points of interest, gas stations, restaurants, and businesses along the way. If you have a local business and would like to sponsor an ad or be listed please reach out to us for options at, or message us on our Facebook page.

Thanks again for your hard work!

You can store them anywhere including just off the trail.
Be safe as you collect the bigger ones!
Remember the more you take.... the more time our groomer operators have to make the trails smooth so you can get even more!

ALSO.....Dont forget your SAM pass as the EPO's have been invited to get there collectibles too!

RIDE SAFE my friends and Keep the Rubber Side Down!

Stay Alert and Pay Attention to Trail Changes!
Some of the major changes are after passing the Leyden fire pit and thru the quiet zone pass the old Bartons garage, which once was the Zimmerman property there has been a trail change.
ALSO headed from the hollywood or from over Fox hill going east towards the 91 bridge THAT QUIET ZONE MUST BE HONORED! We are literally 75 ft from a non-snowmobiling family's home.. GO SLOW!!! Once over the 91 bridge headed to North Bernardston as you enter West road there is another major trail change.
You can get SAM trail passes online here or Hale Custom Signs, The Steel Shed Inc and Ray's Cycle Center

We are always looking for bridge repair material. If you or someone you know have replaced a deck or any other pressure treated structure and the wood is in pretty good shape. Give me a shout.

Imagine, you wake up and look out the window, the forecast was right, a foot of snow fell last night...finally! You grab your gear, the sled is already in the trailer, you fire up the truck and put it into drive, its time to go. You get to the trail and meet with the others who share the same enthusiasm about riding as you do. This day couldn't be any better. You do a brief check of supplies, you're gonna need em... because today you'll ride until the sun goes down.

*NOTE* trail changes will be posted in our Trail Conditions and on our Facebook page: Bernardston Gill Leyden Snowmobile Club
